Shipley farm Beef dates back to 1872, when Nathan and Sarah Shipley acquired 115 acres of farmland adjacent to Sarah’s family home in Vilas, North Carolina. Nestled in the heart of the Southern Appalachian Mountains, the farm has been home to generations of Shipleys dedicated to raising high-quality beef cattle. In 1897, W.E. Shipley—Nathan’s son and father to R.G.—made history by introducing the first registered Hereford bull to North Carolina, bringing it all the way from Virginia on foot behind a horse-drawn wagon.
