Satta Matka Kalyan Matka is a popular form of lottery and gambling that originated in India during the 1960s. It began as a form of betting on the opening and closing rates of cotton, transmitted from the New York Cotton Exchange to the Bombay Cotton Exchange. Over time, this evolved into a more structured form of number-based gambling known as Matka. The "Kalyan Matka" variant was introduced by Kalyanji Bhagat in 1962 and became widely popular due to its consistent timing and easier rules. It runs twice a day—once in the afternoon and again in the evening. Despite being illegal in India, it continues to operate underground with thousands of players participating daily. While it offers the allure of high returns from small investments, it also carries a high risk of loss and legal consequences. Authorities regularly crack down on such activities, yet it remains a deeply rooted part of India’s gambling culture.
