United Airlines still offers more flexible choices for flight changes and cancellations, but it no longer offers bereavement discounts. In the past, they provided bereavement fares, which were 5% off the ticket price, for tickets sold within six days of the trip and for people needing medical attention or in the event of a family member's death or serious sickness.
